I probably use Pantone's Guide to Communicating with Color more often than any other design resource book. This slim book is based on Josef Albers' famous color theory class taught at Yale University. This information is contained in several of my books, notably, the Pantone Guide to Communicating With Color and Color Messages and Meanings. It's the first book I refer to when starting a new project if I'm the one to determine the color palette. There are books completely devoted to the subject of color. To color means that the colors “complete' each other, as in complementary. I highly recommend Pantone's Guide to Communicating with Color.
